Excerpt from THE BIG PICTURE, THOUGHTS ON THE BILL EXPLOSIONS: On the granular level these artworks are almost-grids like cells on a spreadsheet storing data. They owe allegiance to both the digital and the analog... equal parts subway mosaic and computer pixel graphic. They are imperfect in comforting ways. Like the warm crackle of an old victrola they warble, stutter, and glitch.

Up close they are cinemagraphic. The images in each tiny square shift microscopically from frame to frame. Like film footage sans projector, it's almost as though no movement were taking place. At a distance you yourself become the projector, and the bills reconstitute writ large like some sort of mirage.

This is an original, handmade, one-of-a-kind artwork... not a print or reproduction. Its surface is 100% currency collage on a rigid wooden panel.

The piece is framed in a sleek high-modernist style and glazed with UV filtering plexiglass. The aluminum frame stock has a skinny 3/8 inch front face, seamless tig-welded corners, and a rich black powder-coat paint job. Discrete collaged spacers on the inner lip of the frame offer an extra something to the attentive viewer. The back of the frame sports a detailed, handwritten, and signed frame label to aid in future identification and authentication.
