I often sight CENTAUR and their cut-&-paste cousins from mythology (winged horses, sphinx, lamasu, minotaur, etc) as early examples of the human impulse to COLLAGE. I also regularly site them in relation to the fictional/mythic nature of money... here too is a thing we are all familiar with, we can describe them and tell their stories, even though they never really existed.

By all accounts George Washington was an accomplished horseman, so envisioning an equestrian statue of him as a centaur makes total sense to me.

This is an original, handmade, one-of-a-kind artwork... not a print or reproduction. Its surface is 100% currency collage on a rigid wooden panel.

The piece is framed in a sleek high-modernist style and glazed with UV filtering plexiglass. The aluminum frame stock has a skinny 3/8 inch front face, seamless tig-welded corners, and a rich black powder-coat paint job. Discrete collaged spacers on the inner lip of the frame offer an extra something to the attentive viewer. The back of the frame sports a detailed, handwritten, and signed frame label to aid in future identification and authentication.
