currency on heavy cotton paper

Excerpt from THE BIG PICTURE, THOUGHTS ON THE BILL EXPLOSIONS: "On the granular level these artworks are almost-grids like cells on a spreadsheet storing data. They owe allegiance to both the digital and the analog... equal parts subway mosaic and computer pixel graphic. They are imperfect in comforting ways. Like the warm crackle of an old victrola they warble, stutter, and glitch.

Up close they are cinemagraphic. The images in each tiny square shift microscopically from frame to frame. Like film footage sans projector, it's almost as though no movement were taking place. At a distance you yourself become the projector, and the bills reconstitute writ large like some sort of mirage."

This is an original collage... not a print or reproduction. Its surface is 100% currency collage on Coventry Rag (a 1/32" thick 100% cotton fiber paper). The resulting semi-rigid collage has received 3 coats of acrylic varnish. It is signed on the back, and comes with a signed frame label to aid in future identification and authentication.

The collages are rather rigid and prop up nicely. The front face is pretty durable and the Liquitex varnish touts UV protection. I've seen people magnet them to metal surfaces, pin them to cork board, and sleeve them in 3-ring binders along side other collectibles and ephemera. We DO offer in-house framing is IN THIS STYLE HERE. If you'd like to receive your collage ready to hang in a museum-quality frame, just add one to your cart. Framing may add 2 to 3 weeks to the delivery of your order.
